Golden Sun is a Japanese RPG made for the Game Boy Advance. Released in 2001, it was surprisingly successful and well-received among reviewers and players. The graphics were amazing, considering the system, and the gameplay was equal parts old school RPG fun and quirky, original mechanics. The soundtrack was beautiful and the characters were genuinely interesting.
All of these elements led to Golden Sun becoming a well-loved title with a nicely sized fanbase. But for me, it was the hilarious script and easy-going, adventurous feel that made me fall in love with the game. Golden Sun is a title you can actually enjoy. It's not very hard to complete, and while there are plenty of things to do (and some very challening optional puzzles), you never become frustrated and feel like putting it down.
Golden Sun was the first game I owned for the GBA. It was the first game I beat on the GBA. It holds a very special place in my heart as it brought me lots of entertainment and fond memories. It reminded me of why I began playing games in the first place: to have fun.
The title of the site, The Broken Seal comes from the game's subtitle in the original Japanese title.
